Everybody’s talking

About David

As many of you won’t have failed to notice this week, David Cameron rather successfully took the Conservatives another shade of blue during his interview on Christian O’Connell’s Absolute Radio breakfast show.

Sharing his own personal take on Twitter, DC successfully leveraged 500% more coverage of his slot simply by throwing in a few choice words that most of us have heard before, and then saying sorry for it.

Naughty Tory leader.

With his penchant for indiscretions, it’s really not surprising that Mr Cameron’s not allowed on Twitter.

More about that in a moment.

About Alice

What many of you won’t know is that this week, Inspiration Inc welcomed another valuable addition.

Who wouldn't be talking about Alice?

Fresh from her degree in International Business (with French), Alice Hennessy joins our SEO team and brings a lethal combination of kick-boxing prowess and retail dexterity with her.

It’s fair to say we’re expecting big things from Alice. Watch this space.

Back to the honourable gentleman on my right

So what’s Mr Cameron’s problem with Twitter?

I couldn’t be bothered to listen to the radio interview, but I do know it was something about not having enough time to Tweet.

I hear you, David.

Some days I open my TweetDeck and don’t even manage to sneak a peek at more than three or four of the billion links that are Tweeted, every hour.

But that’s my loss.

Because what I find Twitter really useful for, is finding out what everyone else is talking about.

It helps me to feel more connected to what I do. And sometimes, I even learn something.

I think our honourable friend might be missing the point of social media.

If David viewed Twitter less as a tool for self-promotion, and more as a way of tapping into what the common people are talking about, he might find it a bit more relevant.

And he might feel a bit more relevant without trying to be more interesting, or create interest where there is none.

Still, if the Twit persona is the route his publicist wants to go, Twitter  may prove an invaluable platform for his forthcoming blunders.

If you want to tap into politiks, why not visit the place where real life and politics tweet.

Happy talking and listening,

Laura at Inspiration Inc
